Virtual Boy
V810 · 2026
A native recompilation tech demo. Mario's Tennis runs, with no major enhancements and no broader compatibility promise yet.
vbrecomp is a Virtual Boy recompilation tech demo.
It proves the idea on one game: Mario's Tennis. It is not a broad Virtual Boy ecosystem yet.
You provide your own cartridge dump.
What runs today
Mario's Tennis runs as a native app on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
That is the current scope. There are no major enhancements, no full library promise, and no guarantee that another Virtual Boy game will work without its own project work.
The exact state still belongs on the game page. The platform page is here to explain the ecosystem.
What Virtual Boy ports can add
- Native desktop builds.
- Gamepad support.
- Fullscreen and modern window handling.
- Future display options, if a game project chooses to build them.
What to expect
Treat this as a tech demo.
It is useful because it proves the Virtual Boy path can work. It should not be read as a promise that the platform is ready for many games or heavy enhancements.
