Spyro the Dragon
PlayStation · 2026
Spyro the Dragon as a native Windows app through the community OpenPete project.
OpenPete is a community-built native PC port of Spyro the Dragon.
It uses a hybrid approach. The fan decompilation covers the parts that have been worked out by hand, and PSXRecomp covers the rest.
Playable status
Yes, on Windows. Builds are downloadable from openpete.com and run from a disc dump you provide.
Linux builds from source today, with packaged releases planned. The source tree is not public yet.
What the port adds
Rendering is decoupled from the original PlayStation framerate, so the game can draw much faster on modern hardware.
It also has widescreen, extended draw distance, save states, rewind, HD texture pack support, music replacement, and optional PSX-style visual modes.
